Welcome to Herpesfolds: Unveiling Viral Protein Structures

Our HerpesFolds Database offers comprehensive, proteome-wide structure predictions for all nine human herpesviruses and some common animal virus models, filling a critical gap left by the absence of viral proteins in the EMBL/DeepMind AlphaFold database. Herpesfolds also doubles as a homology “cheat sheet” for all the connoisseurs working on several of these viruses.

Using FoldSeek, we have also generated protein structure groups that you can explore interactively at HerpesClusters.

If you are interested in the details, have a look at our preprint A proteome-wide structural systems approach reveals insights into protein families of all human herpesviruses.

Finally, we are pre-releasing all-against-all protein interaction screens for representative members of all human herpesviruses as interactive networks at HerpesPPIs.

We hope that this resource will help you and the whole herpesvirus research community!

HerpesFolds is a project by the bosse lab and was generated by Timothy Soh, Sofia Ognibene, Robin Schaeper, Malte Kansy, and Jens Bosse.
